Trade unions
The Jurnalistlərin Həmkarlar İttifaqı (Journalists Trade Union of Azerbaijan - JuHİ) was established in 1997 and it is a member of international journalism and freedom of expression organisations such as the International Federation of Journalists, the IFEX network and the Federation of Journalists of Turkey. The organisation was registered by the Ministry of Justice of Azerbaijan on 28 March, 2000 and operates thanks to the efforts of 270 journalists. However, JuHI is not very active in defending journalists‘ rights or promoting professional and independent journalism.
The officially registered Trade Union of the Public Television and Radio Broadcasting Company of Azerbaijan campaigns for the labour and professional interests of its members.
