Barbara Thomaß
is Professor of International Comparison of Media Systems at the Institute for Media Studies, University of Bochum, Germany. Her main fields of interests are media systems in Eastern and Western Europe, broadcasting policies, media and journalism ethics
She is a member of the administrative council of the ZDF, the national public service broadcaster in Germany. She had been lecturing and researching in communication science at the universities of Hamburg, Goettingen, Lueneburg and Bremen and at the universities in Vienna and Paris. She has been working with international organisations for several years in courses on journalism standards and ethics in different parts of Eastern and South Eastern Europe, in West Africa and South East Asia.
