The numbers of online platforms outside the traditional media has increased in Switzerland in the past few years. Thus, the financing of new startups is still largely unstable, no matter which business model they ave put into place. In many cases, experienced professional journalists are at work with the mission to counteract the journalistic deficits of the traditional media and to fill a niche. The boundaries between investigative journalism, alternative political journalism, civic or citizen journalism, content marketing, public relations and public affairs are fluid but in most cases still a valuable alternative to the traditional media offerings.
